Earlier, I watched several Nighthawks disappear among the trees of the woodlot,
across the road from the house. They vanished, one after another, I assumed
each on its own roost limb. Then, about 10 minutes ago, I saw an individual
zoom in among the trees, as though looking for a spot. I made a point of
keeping track of it and was fortunate enough to see it land on a walnut tree
limb. I Flickr posted a photo (link below) taken before it settled down and
closed its eyes. Within a minute or two its eyes were closed and I’m guessing
it will be there all day. They are remarkably lovely creatures!
The sun has been up for 80 minutes, now, and I’m still seeing Nighthawks in the
air.
