Hi all,
For the first time this winter season, there was a decent mix of
waterfowl on the Flemingsburg Bypass Reservoir today. Waterfowl in
the portions of NE Kentucky that I frequent (Rowan, Bath, Fleming Co.)
has been particularly slow this winter, but in the last week a few
things have been trickling in.
Flemingsburg Bypass Reservoir - Fleming Co. 1/24/13
350 Canada Geese
40 Gadwall
10 A. Black Duck
400 Mallard
3 Northern Shoveler
1 Canvasback
12 Redhead
1 Ring-necked Duck
6 Hooded Merganser
16 Ruddy Duck
4 A. Coot
Also, here are a few waterfowl sightings from last weekend
Cave Run Shallow Flats - Rowan Co. 1/21/13
25 Gadwall
7 A. Wigeon
5 Mallard
4 Redhead
7 Bufflehead
4 Hooded Merganser
Hutton-Loyd Christmas Tree Farm - Fleming Co. 1/20/13
44 Canada Geese
6 A Black Duck
8 Mallard
17 Ring-necked Duck
4 Hooded Merganser
1 PB Grebe
I also checked the Flemingsburg Reservoir on the 20th, but the only
birds were 3 Canada Geese.
