I was thinking that cuckoos were parasitic themselves, in the same fashion as
Cowbirds.

Subject: [birdky] RPT: Cuckoo Nest - Floyd Co
I blundered into a yellow-billed cuckoo nest this past Wednesday at the Dewey
Lake Wildlife Management Area in Floyd County. There were two nestlings
present and one egg. The egg was pale blue. The nestlings were charcoal gray
in color and one was bigger than the other. The young did not look like
cuckoos at all, maybe cowbirds but I don't know for sure.
