Happened to notice a roost ring on radar awhile ago, so I toured area NWS radar sites looking for others. The distribution of Purple Martin roost rings is sort of odd. Predictably, though, I guess, they are most noticeable in western & southern KY. Did not see a thing at Louisville or Lexington. A roost east or southeast of Madisonville was very noticeable on all radars around it; it must be pretty large. Others noted included London, Williamsburg (or east of town), [both very noticeable only on the Jackson radar site], north of Hickman, and small traces of roosts along the Crittenden/Webster County line, and along the Butler/Ohio County line. bpb, Louisville ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos/default.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
