Maybe they were cold? Playing “house?”
What would we do without nature? I never want to know!

Indira (my wife) was birding in Putney pond yesterday and came across a pair
of nesting cedar waxwings.
The photos seem to suggest that they are commandeering an abandoned nest of
another bird. One of the pictures shows one of the pair carrying nesting
material in its beak!
We are aware that cedar waxwings are late nesters; but is it common for them
to nest so late?
Can someone educate please us about this?
Thanks
