While driving in Grayson and Edmonson Counties yesterday, I saw several common grackles (FOS for me), and was treated to the sight of about 50 turkeys in a harvested farm field just outside of Bee Spring. The first time I passed, two of the gobblers were displaying for the group. On the return trip, a gobbler and hen were mating, indicating I suppose a successful display. Monday afternoon, my son and I watched a group of approximately 40 black vultures over our east Louisville neighborhood, circling some but heading pretty quickly northwest. [Dinsmore] Colin H.
