McElroy Lake in Warren County continues to attract migrants with 14 species of shorebirds being present the past 2 days. Highlights from todays birding include: RED-NECKED PHALAROPE gorgeous juvenile videotaped Black-bellied Plover Am. Golden Plover Semipalmated Plover Greater Yellowlegs Lesser Yellowlegs Pectoral Sandpiper Dunlin 25+ Stilt Sandpiper 2 Long-billed Dowitcher 6 Snipe 20+ Ring-billed and Bonaparte's Gulls were present as well as Coots and Pied-billed Grebes. Then number of waterfowl increased today with the same species present as reported yesterday. A Peregrine Falcon molting into its first adult plumage made one pass over the lake.
