Just a note to let you all know that the Ky. Ornithological Society will have a booth this weekend at the Bernheim Forest Colorfest Celebration. KOS members have volunteered to work the booth both days of the festival. If you're going to be in the area, be sure to stop by and say hello .......or feel free to pitch in. Kathy Caminiti COLORFEST 2002 SATURDAY OCTOBER 19 10:30am - 5pm AND SUNDAY OCTOBER 20 12 noon - 5pm Fall Festival of Color at Bernheim Forest Clermont, KY (October 19 & 20, 2002) ---- Bernheim is a wonderful place to see fall colors. Purples, reds, yellows, and oranges drift through the air as people gather to celebrate the last of the season. The hills are aflame; the arboretum glows; the weather is just perfect: not too hot, not too cold, it's fall! Bring your family and friends to Bernheim for our annual fall festival of colors - recently awarded one of Kentucky's Top Ten Fall Festivals by Kentucky Tourism Council! Music, storytelling, adventures, and arts and crafts for all ages are just part of the weekend's fun. There will be food vendors available also, or you can bring a picnic lunch! Don't miss the t-shirt and face painting, the hay maze, pumpkin painting, games, puppets, gamelan music, hayrides, nature hikes, discovery tables, woodcutters, blacksmiths, and other exhibits for all ages. Land Ho Farm will also be here with horse-drawn carriage rides both days ($10 for adults / $5 for kids). Here are just a few of the businesses and organizations participating this year: Bernheim Middle School Community Learning Center, Kentucky Wild Turkey Federation, Greenhaven Tree Care, Squallis Puppeteers, Louisville Zoo, Mt. Washington Boy Scout Troop #100, Raptor Rehabilitators of KY, Old Iron of KY Antique Tractor Club, The Speed Art Museum, The Society of KY Lepidopterists, KY Ornithological Society, Tale Talk of Louisville, and more. Music performances are provided by some of Kentucky's finest artists! Saturday's music line up includes Keith Otterson (blues and folk), Butch Rice (acoustic pop), and Lamont Gillispie & 100 Proof Blues. Sunday's stage show will be The Three of Hearts (a cappella-style, imagine the Andrew sisters), Aria recording artist just back from Nashville The RiverRed (alternative country), and The River City Volunteer Concert Band (big band music). There's something for everyone! No registration is required, this event is free with $5 gate admission, it's open to the public, and everyone is invited! Free admission during the week, $5 per vehicle on weekends and holidays.
