Long Creek (LBL) had some pretty waders this afternoon. Five Little Blues
including two juvies, a pair of Cattle Egrets in breeding colors, and two
Great Egrets were present in the third pool of water. A lone female Hooded
Merganser paddled while warblers sang.
The Osprey are still hanging out on the Eggner's Ferry Bridge in spite of
their eviction. One was sitting on a disheveled nest. The Barkley Bridge
has what looks like TV antennas attached to keep them off, but one had
managed to light on top of an antenna. For years it has been a delight to
count the nests and inhabitants. I will miss them.
