Hi everyone, The two red-necked grebes found yesterday by Lou Shain were found again this morning at Jacobson Park. Because most of the lake froze last night, the grebes stayed in a small unfrozen area along the back of the lake, close to the golf course. Also at Jacobson Park were American wigeons, northern shovelers, ring-necked ducks, mallards, gadwall, lesser scaup, greater scaup, one mute swan, hooded mergansers, bufflehead, coots, and one horned grebe. I also saw a couple yellow-rumped warblers near the bank. A third red-necked grebe was found on Reservoir 2, seen from Lakeshore Dr. There were many gulls on the lake, too, including at least four herring gulls among the 35+ ring-billed gulls.
