He must have his state, the birding territories and the species confused. I
used to have a Federal permit along with my husband to rehab and release Birds
of Prey...they ones that he is blaming for cooperative hunting here is totally
False! Harris's hawk is notable for its behavior of hunting cooperatively in
packs consisting of tolerant groups, while other raptors hunt alone~

He definitely knows what he's talking about when he refers to "redbirds" and
"jaybirds". He clearly sounds educated and isn't primarily using anecdotal
evidence to bolster his argument. He should share this picture of the hawks
attacking baby turkeys with researchers because I'm sure they would be
interested in hawks working together in such a manner...

I don’t think you have a clue to what’s really going on and I’m surprised. The
number one target of coopers are other birds. What do you really think has
happened to our beautiful Redbirds, robins, bluebirds, jaybirds, doves, ducks,
goslings. They blame bad bird feed. It’s Hawks. They are killing cats and
small dogs . They are destroying our quail, rabbits, squirrels and turkeys.
They have decimated family farm chickens .The dove population is down over 40
percent and I have personally witnessed hawks killing them. I have a picture
showing six hawks attacking baby turkeys. Hawks have no natural predators .
They were taken off the protected list and Biden put them back on. I’m not
suggesting they we have a hawk season but we need a right to control the
population just like deer except deer don’t kill other animals. I can prove
what I am saying. I’ll let you talk to a constitute who had to remove his bird
feeder because hawks were killing all his songbirds. I ll let you talk to
someone who lost all 15 of his egg laying farm chickens to a red tail hawk. Thx
I am saddened and dismayed by this response. I hope others will join in the
conversation to help strategize how to educate this person. Lisa

Subject: [birdky] Re: Legislation against hawks! 24RS SB 59 I read the proposed
