[birdky] Jeeves frustration

Pam Spaulding came for a return visit today and brought along a small blind
which she set up about a pace beyond Gourmet Rock about 7:00 A.M. Most of the
other birds quickly accepted the blind, but Pam emailed from the blind at 8:02,
9:00, and 9:47 that Jeeves was a no show. I emailed her at 10:08 that I would
set up my scope at the top of the hill and see if I could spot Jeeves anywhere
nearby. She spotted Jeeves for the first time a couple of minutes later but
only momentarily. After I began watching from the hill top, Jeeves came out and
fed at 10:25 and again a little after 11:00. I think Pam may have gotten some
pretty good shots then because Jeeves perched on a briar a few moments before
coming down to feed. Pam sat in the blind again between 12:00 & 1:00 and saw
Jeeves only one more time. A total of, I think, 4 viewings in 5 hours of
stakeout. It will have been worth it if her shots are focused, but I can't say
I would recommend bringing along a blind to anyone whose main goal is simply to
see Jeeves. Jeeves is more wary than any of the other birds of anything
unusual. I posted one picture showing Pam's blind and where it is set up. If
any of her shots meet her high standards, Pam will later post on the KOS flickr
site. -
