Based on the "Bird Ecology and Conservation - A Handbook of Techniques" perhaps it would have been OK to state the WI count as "7 +/- 15%" http://books.google.com/books?id=q30iCY2JWewC&pg=PA24&lpg=PA24&dq=average+percentage+error+in+bird+count&source=bl&ots=nqnGQy9IGQ&sig=X8mShcov_HpWPuI7lAwTJmyGA44&hl=en&ei=LVI_TOfyOMjsnQeP6qGMBQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CBYQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=average%20percentage%20error%20in%20bird%20count&f=false ;>) ----- Original Message ----- From: Eddie and Jennifer Huber To: BirdKY Sent: Thursday, July 15, 2010 10:41 AM Subject: [birdky] Ibis miscount Well so we can put this count issue thing to rest let me take full responsibility for the miscount. When I first saw the ibisis we were quite a distance from them. Do to bad lighing I must have mistaken another bird that was mixed in with the 6 ibises as a 7th. As we got closer to the ibises and was able to get a better count I saw only 6 but by that time I had already made a call to Jennifer and told her that there were 7 ibises at McElroy. I continued to search out for the missing (7th) ibis but 6 was all I could count. Eddie Huber
