The other day when we were enjoying the Eared Grebe on the river here at
Louisville, it kept swimming back and forth across the KY-IN state line,
allowing most to "tick" it in both states. There was some discussion about
where the state line is in this area. Back in 2015 I posted some photos of
USGS topo maps on Flickr that show what I regard to be the best set of
state boundary lines around. Also included were state lines from the KY GIS

Over the years it has become clear that no group of people cares more
about state lines than birders . . . although eBird has sort of changed the
paradigm now with its protocols and the lines have blurred once again . . .
