We run a meal delivery route for a couple of hours, twice a week
around Hart County, which gives us an excellent opportunity to hone our car
birding skills. We've been at it for almost 2 years, and it's a great way
to witness seasonal changes in species, numbers, bird activity, etc. A
gloomy day in January might yield 10 species (again, this is car birding);
recently numbers are creeping up. Longer day length has them singing on
sunny days already. Today cardinals and song sparrows were really up and at
em.
A flock of cranes and a single eagle over Munfordville were today's
highlights.
On the home front, 20 purple finches and a cooperative barred owl added to
the day's avian parade.
