Greetings!

Another year has passed, and Environment for the Americas had many
accomplishments in 2007. We already have big plans for 2008 and are
looking forward to sharing them.

For the first time, you may have a chance to win original International
Migratory Bird Day art, while supporting bird conservation. With a
minimum donation of just $5, your name will be included in a drawing for
the 2008 International Migratory Bird Day art.

All donations will benefit La Tangara, the newsletter of the
International Working Group of Partners in Flight. This newsletter and
its associated website are recognized as the critical information
exchange mechanism for Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation. Our goal
is to raise at least $10,000.00, which will make La Tangara available to
biologists and educators in the Western Hemisphere for one year. Your
help is appreciated!

A drawing will be held to determine the winner of the art on February
16, 2008 at the IV International Partners in Flight Conference in
McAllen, Texas. You do not have to be present to win. Contributing is
easy...just visit the link below to see the art and to make your
donation. Payment may be made by check or credit card.

Organizer Survey Results
 <http://img.constantcontact.com/letters/images/spacer.gif>

Environment for the Americas staff developed and tested an on-line
evaluation for festival organizers. This evaluation is available in
English and Spanish and has proven helpful in determining the success of
IMBD events and identifying organizer needs. In 2007, organizer
responses from Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean
provided the following information:

* Over 80% of participating organizations host a second event, and
over 60% have hosted more than 3 events.
* IMBD poster is used at 70% of the events.
* 66% of organizers incorporate the annual migratory bird
conservation theme into their activities.
* 84% of IMBD organizers use the website.
*       84% of 2007 organizers plan to host a 2008 event.

If you organized an IMBD event in 2007 or previous years, please fill
out our survey online. We are always looking for ways to improve IMBD
materials, activities, and information you need each year.

Longevity is a characteristic of IMBD, and over 30% of events have been
offered for more than 6 years. EFTA was also pleased to find out that 15
groups or individuals have participated in IMBD for over 10 years. We
will be recognizing long-term participants for the first time in 2008.
These groups will be awarded an honorary plaque commending their
excellence in celebrating IMBD and the conservation of migratory birds.

If you have hosted 10 or more IMBD events, we want to recognize your
participation and efforts. Please write us at migratorybirdday@xxxxxxx
and provide your name, contact information, number of years celebrating
IMBD, and your ideas for a catchy name for the 10 year club.

What do bird courtship and Valentine's Day have in common? Read the new
virtual tour to learn more. You'll find information and pictures about
bird courtship, a fun activity for your education program, and the
history of Valentine's Day.

The 4th International Partners in Flight Conference is rapidly
approaching. On February 12th, the Bird Education Alliance for
Conservation will be hosting a full-day meeting to discuss current
projects. Please join us and help shape the future of bird conservation
education. That evening, all conference attendees are invited to attend
a reception with brief presentations, information about education
programs, and of course, food and drinks. To register for the
conference, please visit http://www.partnersinflight.org/events/mcallen/
