On our afternoon walk, a singing Dickcissel sat on the fence near us. Alison
suggested that I take its picture. I commented that if I tried to take its
picture it would be sure to fly away. “Well why not at least try?” says Alison.
So just to prove my point, I got out my camera and pointed it at Dickcissel.
Just to prove me wrong, Dickcissel sat there and let me snap a picture. A
little further on, we heard a Bobolink singing from a tree but could never
locate it. Then when we got all the way up to the wet spot across from Kathleen
Cox’s house, I could see that there were several birds there other than
Killdeer. Returned with scope, but the light was too low for decent pictures.
Saw 2 year birds there - Least Sandpiper and Semi-palmated Plover.
