We have had Bald Eagle flyover at Cherokee Park a few times. I’ve seen them on
a few of my Spring and Fall walks, and pretty sure I had one there for a
Christmas Bird Count one year.
Not regular by any means but they do pass over.
With water still freezing up in the north there may be a surge going south,
along with a large number of waterfowl.
Golden Eagle is always a rarity but they do pass through. I’ve personally not
seen one flying over Cherokee Park, I do know Brian Walker had a Golden flyover
Reformatory Lake in Oldham Co not too long ago.He also had photos as well for
documentation.
I believe the area in Bernheim Forest in Clermont, KY still has a couple of
Golden Eagles that winter there from Canada. I can’t remember if they have been
located recently.

on this cold, sunny afternoon. As we walked up the last hill to the
Cherokee tennis courts at approximately 1:30 we had the pleasant surprise of
seeing a Bald Eagle fly directly over the tennis courts. It caught a
thermal in the distance and glided upwards providing great views for the
next few minutes. It’s the first time I’ve seen an Bald Eagle in
