Surround sound with a light show; pretty cool.

Subject: [birdky] Barred Owls
Two morning's ago,, around 4 am, while outside watching the Lyrid meteor shower
we heard a total of 4 Barred Owls, first one then soon joined by 3 others, more
or less, all 90 deg apart, surrounding us, perhaps each a quarter to 1/2 of a
mile away.
We have been to Cape May, NJ several times and the Audubon Bird Observatory,
believe the name, conducts a 24 hour bird count each May with competing teams
of 4 who start at midnight. By dawn they have 25 species and then really get
going. They drive all over NJ to previously scouted out locations. Do not
remember the totals, but up there. The hawk count at the Cape May lighthouse in
the fall is worth a NJ trip. You would not believe the daily counts on broad
wing hawks and many more.
Our one hour count of meteors was 10, including 3 very bright. We were hoping
for an earth grazer Fireball, extremely bright meteor, which this yearly shower
is famous for, but no such luck.
