Thanks for all the reports on fox sparrows. I’ve been watching two “odd
song sparrow-like” individuals in my back yard for the past 3 days, leaving
me scratching my head. Now I know I have Fox sparrows! New species added to
my backyard list! So beautiful they are, their reddish plumage very
striking against the white snow.

Finally I’m seeing a Fox Sparrow below the feeder. A yard first. Yesterday
a Red-Breasted Nuthatch appeared - hadn’t seen one since November. Several
Pine Siskins are being rousted by the ever-increasing gang of Goldfinches.
The little Ruby-Crowned Kinglet was showing his red feathers - probably
because of all the activity.  The Hermit Thrush seems to like the front
porch dormant flower pots. A Grackle (yard first!) just appeared with the
gang of RW Blackbirds, Starlings, and Cowbirds. They don’t stay long.
Snowbirding is such fun!
