In May the Beckham Bird Club will have its 2004 Birdathon. The club has
requests for funds from many different organizations this year.
We need your support. Please let us know if you will sponsor us as we try to
raise money for the following projects approved by the Beckham Bird Club
Board of Directors for this year's Birdathon.
CONSERVATION ORGANIZATIONS:
Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission - To assist in purchasing an
addition to Crooked Creek Barrens State Nature Preserve in Lewis County in NE
Kentucky. Home to breeding population of Henslow's Sparrows and five rare
plant
species.
Kentucky Resources Council, Inc. - Funds to be used for general office needs
to support and promote environmental laws;
Kentucky Natural Lands Trust - To assist in purchasing land that would
provide migration route for animals, birds and plants from Virginia to
Tennessee
contiguous with Pine Mountain.
Kentucky Conservation Committee - Funds requested to support lobbying for
environmental issues.
SPECIFIC REQUESTS FOR BIRD-RELATED PROJECTS
Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky - Located in Jefferson County - Raptor
education program in Kentucky School Systems
Louisville Nature Center - To cover cost of Title 1 students visiting the
Nature Center
Jefferson County Memorial Forest -Purchase bird egg replicas, books, etc. for
interactive exhibit in information building.
Beckham Bird Club - Update and supplement collection of bird slides for use
in presentations.
No pledge is too small or too large. You may give a set amount or an amount
per species found. Hopefully we will get our 100+ species again this year as
we search all over Jefferson County .
