I thought about minor Clark after, just figured it was a gamble, but it's
been more hoping than the falls in recent years it seems. I might start
making a trip out there every once in awhile.

Wise choice by Asher, he beat the Falls of the Ohio 4-0 this morning. All
I could find were about 50 Killdeer, 4 Pecs, 3 Least, and a Spotty . . . .

I checked historical fall records (2000-2022) for Minor Clark vs. Falls of
the Ohio and Minor Clark beat out about 30/20 so I decided to try there.
Got to the location at about 10:30 this morning and almost immediately
found three plover, soon joined by a fourth. Other shorebirds were about 80
Killdeer, 3 Spotted Sandpiper and one Lesser Yellowlegs. I also found 9
warbler species from one vantage point, most notably Wilson’s. I saw a
Little Blue Heron for about 30 seconds before it flew over the tree line,
and I had a count of 25 Great Egret. This was an excellent introduction for
me to the fish hatchery, which I had never visited before.

I’m really hoping to find an American Golden-Plover this fall,--
preferably in Kentucky but adjoining territory (Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee)
would be better than none at all. At which locations might I have the best
chance of finding one? I hope to get out Friday or Sunday, maybe both.
