Nineteen birders, from three bird clubs came together Saturday at Bluestone Lake near Hinton WV to bird the lake and surrounding area. Members of the Bibbee Nature Club of Bluefied WV met members of the Buchanan County Bird Club and members of the Russell County Bird Club to begin a wonderful day of birding with friends. The weather was perfect and made for a comfortable fall day. After birding at Bluestone Lake the group birded Bellepoint Park, Mountain Valley Lake and the New River downstream to Sandstone Falls. Forty-eight species were counted for the day with 15 of them being waterfowl including Common Loons, Ruddy Ducks, both Hooded and Common Mergansers and Horned Grebe.
