My name is Conner McBane and I work for the Appalachian Trail
Conservancy. Recently, I have been working on a Golden-winged Warbler Habitat
Management Project with the USFS and the Piedmont Appalachian Trail Hikers. I
was wondering if your club had some expert birders who would be interested in
being trained up to monitor for Golden-winged warblers? Please contact me by
email if you are interested. The monitoring work would be in Bland and Smyth
counties. If you know of other bird groups in the area who may also be
interested please let me know.
These birds are threatened and their monitoring protocol is advanced so
only folks interested in doing monitoring efforts for consecutive years should
be candidates for a monitoring workshop.
