Agreed - We need Safe tables and bulletin board posting areas on each range.
I can donate 4X4 posts and dig the holes - all we need to buy is Exterior grade
plywood and white paint.
Bob's a great stage designer - But you're a great Prop designer! I think it
won't talk long before your stuff is the talk of southern New England! I
forgot to mention - I created a "Bradford Action Shooters" account on
NorthEastshooter.com. That's where all the match announcements are posted. So
it's ready when we need it!

Anyway you want to structure the class -i.e. Both sports at the same time is
fine. You can a run it as a stand alone or a part of my class. I have a ton
of material already, so maybe it's best I do very little on the 2 sports and
just concentrate on the gun handling. If you can get the intro class taught
ahead of mine, that would be sweet!
FYI - I took the intro to USPSA class from Hopkington 2 years back - I can send
you my notes if your interested in what they taught.

I'm feeling pretty pumped up here and I think you guys are pretty enthusiastic
too! That's the feeling that we want to get spreading through the membership.

I better charge up the drill and saw since there is some carpentry and
imagination involved in setting up different stages each week. The shooters
really like all those moving targets. First project is SAFE area. I hope to
rival Bob Donovan some day. That reminds me that Thursday night Sprague should
start soon. I plan on taking some recruits to see if they will get hooked. It
is my plan to get very involved in making this a good start. Nice to have some
resident experts. I will be out of town at least the first two weeks in May.
I better get busy trying to waive or complete some of the IDPA SO prerequisites.

An intro clinic would be great. Maybe something like 1/2 hour in the class
room and a 1/2 plus on the range running stages. I think I'd favor one on IDPA

enthusiast, you're the perfect guy for the first one! :D
I shoot both USPSA and IDPA.
I think there's significant overlap between the two sports. I also think the
same people would likely go to both classes. So a combined class may be more
efficient.
On the other hand, it may be easier for everyone involved to just focus on one
discipline to begin with.
Run with it and enlist Barry and me as needed to help you.
I know Barry has been talking about getting action pistol going for a while.
I'd expect him to be an integral part of these efforts.

Michael,
IDPA is perfect for the scenario that you described, i.e. practice with your
carry gun.
"Participation in IDPA matches requires the use of handguns, holsters and other
equipment suitable for concealed carry self-defense. With that in mind, and
keeping the shooters' best interests in mind, IDPA's founders established
equipment requirements that are based on commonly available firearms and gear,
allowing individuals the opportunity to compete with minimal investment."
Generally, both IDPA and USPSA matches require a minimum caliber of 9mm/38 SPL,
which are necessary for steel targets.
it would be a good idea to offer an "Intro to Action Pistol" clinic for those
who are new to the sport.
