Great shot of the Perseid meteor. You can actually see its component structure. 
I visited your Picasa website and had an excellent time looking at all your 
lightning, etc., shots. 

I went out meteor observing from my backyard once again last night (Aug 12/13). 
The firmament wasn't quite as transparent as the previous two nights because of 
scattered, high, thin clouds (almost a June gloom type situation) and the 
seeing was a little unsettled, but the temperatures were comfortable. I was out 
from about midnight until about 3am. The session started out well enough with 
two good Perseids before I could even set up my lounge chair, but it was pretty 
quiet after that. I only saw about 50 Perseids and 10 sporadics in the time I 
was outside, though I can't say my eyes were open all that time... I'm sure the 
more experienced meteor watchers did better. 

My observing situation made for a rather interesting composition: I was facing 
the rising radiant of Perseus to the NE with a very occasional meteor traveling 
parallel to the background Milky Way, to my right were the flashes of distant 
lightning from a storm that must have been hanging over Sierra Vista while to 
my left were the dancing flashes of several fireflies in the butterfly bushes 
of our backyard flower gardens. It was a wonderful symphony of lightshows from 
different sources - all in the same view! It was reminiscent of my view of 
Comet Hale-Bopp many years ago while on a work assignment to Atlanta, minus the 
lightning.
