These are the directions for the spot we went to for the leonids. This site was just Before you entered the KOFA wilderness area. Wee deemed it not suitable for Deep sky observiong as there is interfence from car lights coming down the hills to the north and the truck stop lghting is visible from there as well. The february trip we took there was to the site I gave coordinates to about 3 mile in the KOFA WA. The mileage is from MS Streets and is accurate. I forgot about the possible site to the south that Steve mentioned. Do they sound right or are they for a 2nd site? As I remember it we were just 0.1 south of the crossroads on the left, and found a possible alternate across the road 0.1 further down. Jack KOFA SITE: Drive West out I-10 to the Vicksburg Rd. Exit. That is exit 45, which means it is about 100 miles from central Phoenix. Turn left (south) for 5 miles on a good, graded dirt road. After five miles you will see a fence and a cattle guard with a sign that says you are enterring the KOFA wilderness. BEFORE you cross the cattle guard, take a right (west) which is just a jeep trail that is used to keep the fence repaired. After about 300 yards off the dirt road is a large open area where 25 vehicles and people can set up with plenty of room. There is also some overflow area on the other side of the road. > KOFA is 106 miles west of the I-10/I-17 Stack.
