15480 Empire Rd. Benson, AZ 85602 hm ph: 520-586-2244 Thanks for the SAS report, Stan. I'll take a look at the website to see if there is any wrap-up. I may not be a member anymore since I think I rejoined annually at the meetings, but haven't attended in a couple years. Was Gene Lucas in attendance? He usually gives a good synopsis of the meeting. I could write about what was presented, but that would take work since I cannot rely on my memory. You are a member of SAS and so you should be receiving your own copy of the Proceedings. The conference was held during the same time as the AAVSO meeting and so some joint members, such as Arne Henden, were not present, but there were still 100+ attendees, I think 102. There were interesting talks, as usual. The after banquet speaker was Peter Jenniskens. I myself doubt the meteorites he found in the Sudan came from the shower that was observed, but it was an entertaining talk. I guess as a sign of the economy (and maybe gas prices), Software Bisque was not present. Usually they have a table set up and host an evening social in one of the rooms. Olivier Thizy, from France and the President of Shelyak, was outside in the evenings to talk about or help with spectrometers of theirs anyone owns, but there was not much activity. There were also not many poster papers. So, maybe it could be argued that like RTMC the meeting was a little more low key than usual.
