Hi,
This is an image of NGC 6357, also known as the Lobster Nebula, taken with
narrowband filters and processed using the Hubble palette. Although known as
the Lobster nebula, the FOV of this image is too small to see then entire
nebula, so finding the lobster will be difficult without pharmaceuticals ð.
It lies about 8,000 light years away in the constellation Scorpius. This nebula
is home to open star cluster Pismis 24, which has some of the most unusually
bright and massive stars in the galaxy. The intricate patterns are caused by
complex interactions between interstellar winds, radiation pressures, magnetic
fields, and gravity.
Comments and suggestions appreciated.
