Iâve never put any serious time on a galaxy from my home. The light pollution
is way too bad. But I decided to try M101 with my new Software Bisque MyT mount
and the Sky X Professional. I did 4 hours of luminance and 4 of color, all 300
second exposures over about 4 nights. This is my first image with the mount and
the first time I ever imaged without Maxim. The only thing I did with Maxim was
image calibration, only because I didnât feel like taking the time to learn
how to do it in The Sky X. I put the time on this from home totally as a
learning experience.
Overall I am very pleased with the software and actually like it better than
Maxim in many ways. Itâs confusing in the beginning but once you get it
running itâs a very nice program.
The Phoenix sky wreaked havoc on the colors but after a lot of tweaking I got
it as close as I could. I also ran drizzle on the images with PixInsight which
doubled the resolution. That way I could zoom in closer to the galaxy without
losing a lot. Anyway, for better or worse. Thanks for looking. If anyone is
interested, I can see the control tower at Sky Harbour from the front of my
house. Not exactly a dark site.
