Another possibility -- use the David Levy designed, Leo Heinzl inspired,
"Pickle-Tron" eyepiece shield (inside joke from the 1970s...don't ask!)
This consists of a standard bathroom tissue (toilet paper) inner
cardboard sleeve, cut off to desired length, and painted black all over,
esp. inside.
(AFTER the paint dries....!) Merely interpose it over the eye lens of
the eyepiece, and place your eye snugly against it. This fits 1-1/4
inch eyepieces.
Or, for 2 inch size eyepieces, you could try a short length of the black
color foam plastic insulation tubing for water pipes, available in
several sizes, from ACE hardware (amongst other fine stores...) Select
one that will fit snugly over the eye lens, and cut to a short length to
match the eye relief on your favorite eyepiece...

I will also note that the excellent optical quality Hyperion Baader
eyepieces are just about the only series that are equipped with special
threads ON THE EYE LENS END for various adapters (mainly for projection
imaging), and also have rubber light shields that are longer, flexible,
removable, and actually effective... I believe you can also get a
threaded adapter that will mount 2 inch filters _on the eye lens_ of
those eyepieces...

I have also seen "turret" adapters that will mount either 1-1/4 inch or
2 inch filters on a rotating disk, for quick comparisons... Mounts under
the eyepiece in the light path... Probably can mount a light shield on
one of those for visual use... (but moderately expensive overall....)

Cheers,
Gene Lucas
