Preparation By Lieutenant Anthony Manson, Ensign Michael Bailey, and Captain Keith Ketchum The displays of the ship’s systems went from normal to dangerous tolerances at least five time a minute. Having to solve this was not good, as EPS manifolds and power relays spiked and lowered, fluctuating power throughout the ship. If but one power relay exploded on any deck, that deck alone would be destroyed. Not only that, but it would cost lives. Anthony looked at the displays as his fingers reflexively blazed through the console, shutting down power where he could without interrupting the primary ship systems. It had worked, slightly. As power was being rerouted, every spike and fluctuation seem to be halted. But in ten minutes, the spikes came to a new high and enough so that the computer set forth it’s automatic warning. Not only that, but his attempts to cut of power from designated areas were re-opened. That was it, he needed to find out what was going on in engineering. He left his post, having Lyta Waterson take over. Upon entering engineering, he saw nothing but busy engineers. The walked past him, or nearly bumped into him as they rushed back and forth, getting a strange object installed to the warp core. He himself wasn’t sure who was in charge here. Having the chief engineer gone, he wasn’t aware of the next person in charge. He’d ask soon enough as he walked to a console and accessed the primary relays, and internal sensors. "Can I help you with something?" Anthony turned to see a man standing behind him, at apparent ease, he looked at the man’s collar that said he was an Ensign. He wouldn’t have mind knowing the ensign’s name, but the ship took precedence right now, "yes, Ensign, actually I need to know what engineering is doing. And you are?" he added politely. Ensign Michael Bailey watched him curiously, tilting his head slightly. "I am Ensign Michael Bailey, Assistant Chief Engineer since I last checked," he gave a polite smile and extended his hand. After the new person who he hasn't seen before shook it, he too asked him who he was and if there was anything he could do to assist him once more. Anthony nodded, "well, yes. Power systems all over the ship is fluctuating, and I need to know why. There was a spike in one of those EPS relays and it nearly took a quarter out of deck four." Anthony then looked over and saw the installation of the device, "is that the cause of our power fluctuations?" "Actually it is, Lieutenant", came a voice from under one of the consoles. Neither of them could see the face of the person that spoke. "But it should be under control now." Walking over to one of the engineering consoles, Anthony pulled up the information that he had been looking on the bridge. He found that the fluctuations were taken care of. Still with their head under the console, "Better?" "Yes, it is." Anthony turned to the comm, "Captain, the device is in order. Ready to go when you are." "Understood Lieutenant, return to the bridge, and take your post.” Keith leaned over and turned on a ship wide communication, "Attention crew, prepare for a time jump. We will begin in thirty minutes." "Aye, Captain", Anthony entered the lift and started his return to the bridge.
