<USS Avalon> Marines aboard oh my

  
"Marines Aboard Oh My"
Admiral Ketchum and Captain Skyler     
  
  
Sitting on the bridge looking around  and checking things out Skyler was 
trying to get a feel for things. It was  definitely much bigger than the old 
bridge. There really was no reason for her  to be on the bridge considering 
that 
they were still recalling crew and were  docked at Izar. Granted she was 
getting 
impatient and wanted to get a move  on.
 
Her thoughts were interrupted by the  comm going off, "Ketchum to Skyler, 
please make sure that we have ample quarters  available, we have a marine 
contingent coming aboard as our security  force."
 
"Excuse me but did you say that we had  a marine contingent coming aboard as 
our security force? Surely there must be  some mistake."
 
Why in the world would they need a  marine contingency on the Avalon. They 
were going on mission's of exploration  and such. No more black OPS or so she 
thought.
 
"That is what I said, our security  force will be Marines.  I have been 
advised that it set to this class of  vessel, and the fact that we will be 
going 
into the great  unknown."
 
"Just exactly where would you  like me to stash them? As far down in the 
bowels of the ship as possible?"   She couldn't believe that they were going to 
have marines aboard. Of all things  to have.
 
"Well.. give them the security officer  quarters on Decks 12 and 26."  
 
Sighing, Skyler responded, "Understood  Sir. Skyler out."
 
Sitting on the bridge the quiet was  suddenly broken by James at Tactical. 
"Captain, we are picking up an audio only  hail. It is on a repeating 
frequency."
 
Immediately Skyler perked up, "Let's  hear it."
 
James played the message for all to  hear. 
 
 "...Orange. All systems are down,  life support is failing. Will be inside a 
life pod. Do not destroy shuttle!  Please!"
 
"Lt. see if you can get a lock on that  signal. If it is in tractor range let 
me know if not we will have to send a  shuttle or something."
 
Tapping her comm badge she called Keith  again. "Admiral, you might want to 
come to the bridge. We have picked up a  distress signal on audio only. Sounds 
like the signal has been repeating itself  for sometime."


 
"Once we have everyone aboard, inform  the station that we wish to depart.  
If it has been going for some time,  then another hour or so, unfortunately 
will not hurt."  He hated to say  that, but it was somewhat true. "While we are 
waiting, try to locate from where  it is coming, so when we do leave, we can be 
en route."
 
"Understood."
 
Skyler made the appropriate  arrangements for the marine contingent and 
ordered James to get a lock on the  signal. Her next duty was to call the 
station 
and get everyone  aboard.
 
"Izar, this is the Avalon. Please be  advised that once we have everyone 
aboard we will be departing immediately.  Please make the following 
announcement, 
All crew boarding the Avalon are to do  so immediately."
 
"Avalon, this is Izar station, Message  received and announcement made. You 
are clear to depart at your  wish."
 
On the station the following was heard  by everyone, "Attention, all crew of 
the USS Avalon please report immediately to  the ship, I repeat, all crew of 
the Avalon please report to the  ship."
 
Now all Skyler could do is wait and  hope that whoever was in that escape pod 
was still  alive.
