Here's a fun task for a Monday. We're having a polo match at work to celebrate the Queen's birthday. I've been asked to come up with some invitation wording that sounds 'olde English' and like it comes from the Queen! I'm completely out of my depth as I usually simplify language rather than obscuring it. Would anyone like to take a bash at wording something for me? I can't offer much in return - other than an invite to the game if you happen to be in Canberra on the day! Some examples I was given to start with are: The King and I request your presence at the Expatriates versus Australians polo match followed by mocktails and canapés in celebration of my birthday. Details of this auspicious occasion are as follows. OR Her Majesty the Queen requests one's presence at a polo match in honour of my birthday... HELP! Many thanx :0) Deborah ************************************************** To post a message to austechwriter, send the message to austechwriter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe to austechwriter, send a message to austechwriter-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with "subscribe" in the Subject field.
