You must have local administrator access to the PC you are using to perform many repairs / registry and software installation fixes that I have outlined.

If you are on a locked down environment, restricted access (AKA effectively useless for tech writing) PC as is all that is allowed at most corporate sites these days, you'll have to pray that the IT folk there know their stuff, because you won't be able to fix much yourself.
