I'm fairly certain (no info to the contrary) that you can't set a page size
in pdf output.
As far as I know the output is entirely according to the end-user's
settings.
Is this the problem?
I have produced pdfs that are meant to be printed as A3. In order to do so,
the end-user has to set the print job to print on A3 paper, otherwise
Acrobat uses the printer default (A4) and scales the document to fit.

Thanks Daryl. Unfortunately, no. That thought had crossed my mind -
pity the company isn't likely to pay for me to wander off to Sydney for a
couple of days at this stage in the project...
I meant to mention that I can use PDFWriter to print to a different
page size, but PDFWriter does not convert the links within the
document. *sigh*
