Thanks, Peter. My idea was that we would all be users and if non-profits can
have a free licence then it would be cheaper if ASTC as a body hosts it,
however, I have no idea what funds ASTC, what it would cost to host, and what
the level of enthusiasm for the idea is. I’m just putting it out there as an
extension of Christine’s suggestion.

You can download the relevant software for Confluence and install it on a
normal Windows box and run it at home without great difficulty if you have a
reasonable amount of storage. It does require Java, Apache Tomcat server and a
database such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, although it's advisable to check which
versions go with what. Maybe a deal of downloading, and some fiddly
configurations, but it's not a hard task, and I think all those components are
still free.
But you don't actually have to do all that: Confluence is available in the
Cloud, so the setup is organised for you.
Purchased licences aren't all that expensive -- in my view, they're more than
reasonable. (From memory I think they start at about $10 or so) But of course,
that depends on how many users you plan to have.

I think having training resources is a great idea. At my workplace we have just
upgraded to the latest version of Confluence which I find extremely
user-friendly. There are free licences for non-profits so perhaps ASTC could
get one. To have a free licence you need your own server. Does ASTC have a
server or could it get one? I was a member but somehow my membership slipped
and I haven’t rejoined but I would definitely rejoin if we had accessible
self-created training resources.
