Right.
My closest friend Colin Priest (Sigma Plus Consulting Pty Ltd) (who is also
known to a few of the Westies group) and business partner is an actuary. I
had a talk to him this afternoon about all your comments made today. He can
help us out with research and a specialist broker if we can provide numbers
of people who would be able to benefit. Numbers mean near or over hundreds,
not a dozen.

This is a kind of market research Email, FOR THE BENEFIT OF OUR FRATERNITY.

First, reply if you are interested in a scheme providing cover for:
Public Liability insurance.
Public Indemnity insurance.
Workers compensation insurance.
Income protection insurance.
Other business insurance (fire, theft, IP loss, other loss etc).
Business or house insurances.
Other insurances, combined into a package arrangement with the above.

Second, reply with information detailing your requirements from past
experiences, or future requirements.

The proposals to the broker would include, by month cover or by contract
cover, or whatever we could negotiate that suits us.

Proposals would include a system of insurances that cover all of Australia.

If the fraternity is interested in getting together on this, we can get what
we need. Either from companies in Australia, or overseas.

The caveat: Most insurance companies/brokers who do this type of specific
industry insurance policy work, require a central organisation to monitor
who is in the game, that is how outdoor adventure guiding companies got
public liability insurances in the last few years. Also groups like swimming
instructors. They all have to belong to relevant industry associations, who
negotiated the deals.

Don't get perverse on me now about "'My independence' and they don't do a
thing for me but a newsletter I can't read 'cause I cry about the trees cut
down to print it out..." :-) It's purely a numbers thing okay; the more
people who can potentially (key word here) use it, the easier it is to get
what you want and need.

It may mean having to negotiate the scheme through the ASTC/STC combined
(for the numbers). Speaking of which, a successful accreditation push would
also be a big help negotiating with insurance companies too. To be eligible
for the insurances, you would probably require association membership, a
small price to pay...

Reply to wjlewington@xxxxxxxxxxx if you are interested.
I will be talking to Janet Taylor from the ASTC, and who can I talk to from
STC Australia?

Warren Lewington.
