Hi William
Your settings would make the file size very small, but may be, it will
make the sound quality very bad. If you record something like podcast, you
should export it at mp3 variable bitrate usign the folowing step
Ctrl+shift+e open the export dialog
Alt+o option dialog.
From the mp3 export setup choose variable.
From the mp3 export setup quality choose from 4 to 6. The lower number the
smaller file size. I usually choose 5.

If you have iTunes installed, I recommend you to export your recorded file
to wave, and use iTunes to convert it to mp3.

remember: if your recorded file doesn't require anything related to
stereo, you should convert it to mono and convert to mp3 using iTunes. The
file size would be reduce a half.

i record with my mp3 recorder at 128. that is because it works well
for a voice and music mix. but, in this case i recorded a one and
one-half hours webx cast of audio with audacity and wanted to reduced

It depend. lower rate means taht you get a smaller files but louse in
quality, higher rate means you get a better quality but bigger files.
But
of course you are not able to afterwods improve the quality by set an
higher rates but you can do the oposit.
