GAAAAH. USB hub was the term I was going for but I couldn't remember it for the 
life of me.

Some things did have to be downloaded, but when my sister tried to install the 
drivers it wouldn't finish the installation and said something about my system 
not being compatible. Soundcards were mentioned, but I wasn't there to listen 
in on the process so I don't know all the details.
