Lets say you build a giant telescope and point it at a bunch of things
that might be aliens. You may not find aliens but I bet you have found a
whole bunch of other interesting things.
Looking for "boxes" and doing the Schroedinger Test is one way to go.
i.e. look for planets in other systems,
look for non dead body activity there. :-)
the hurdle is to look for non anthropocentric indicators.
