Yes, I was observing something similar, not specifically when first
switched on.
Single file transfers, or a number of smallish files were fine in
terms of speed. However, very large files, or a large selection of eg
DSLR jpegs, would start off fast, but after a while would get
progressively slower, sometimes becoming very slow, each 'blink' of
the switch (Gb) activity light being separated by about a second.
These are reads from the network, transfers the other way were not
affected, or at least the effect was small.
As I have said before, other a range of other RISC OS machines did
not show such dramatic slowdowns.
