In my case a number of exported displays from my *nix stations.

Typically non-color managed systems assume a CRT display
gamma, which is about 2.4.

The with the argyll profiles if set to 2.2, major blowout, etc.

Maybe odd/different behavior in OSX?

Unlikely.

You know alot more about this than me

I am looking at

tag 5:
  sig 'rTRC'
  type 'curv'
  offset 424
  size 14
Curve:
  Curve is gamma of 2.1992

v.s.

tag 8:
  sig 'rTRC'
  type 'curv'
  offset 2084
  size 524
Curve:
  No. elements = 256

There's nothing wrong with this.

You'd have to send me the .ti3 data and the resulting profile to be able
to make any further comments.
