Robert Campbell White
Robert Campbell White of Comfort, Texas, peacefully passed, to his Heavenly
home, on Sept. 2, 2017 in Kerrville.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at
Calvary Temple Church, officiated by Pastor Del Way. Visitation time will be
before and after the service.
He was born in Austin, Texas to Robert and Rena White on Jan. 2, 1940. He
married Betty G. White on January 27, 1967 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Bob went to public school in Corpus and Taft. He graduated from The University
of Texas with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1964. He went to work at
NASA in Houston in 1964 when the Houston NASA offices were in a warehouse off
of the Gulf Freeway while the Clear Lake NASA buildings were being completed.
He was involved in the Gemini, Apollo, Space Lab, and Space Station missions.
During Gemini, he was a Retrofire Officer in the Control Center at NASA JSC.
He later moved to the Biomedical Division at NASA during Skylab, and later he
was the computer coordinator for his group. Bob deer hunted in London, Texas
and then in the Kerrville area during his entire working career. While living
in Friendswood, he enjoyed saltwater fishing in Galveston Bay for many years.
He retired from NASA in 1997, after 33 years, and he and Betty moved to a hill
country home on the Guadalupe River (a childhood dream), where he spent many
hours fishing and relaxing in the river. During his retirement years, he could
be seen at Whataburger with a breakfast group of peers 4 mornings a week.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. White and Rena C. White.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty White; his son, Wes White of New
York City; his sister, Jackie White of Corpus Christi; and assorted other
cousins.
Memorials may be given to Calvary Temple Church, 3000 Loop 534, Kerrville, TX
78028.
Bob’s family would like to express sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at
Brookdale Guadalupe River Plaza, who were so kind and caring to Bob and Betty.
The Peterson Hospice angels were also most caring.
