Michael,

I am not aware of any Mennonite Disaster Service responses that are taking
place in Texas at the moment. Investigations could be going on by the
regional director right now and we wouldn't really know about it here.
If MDS comes in later to help rebuild, it will likely be next fall once the
local infrastructure gets in place for rebuilding to happen. If there
was Mennonite churches in those counties then you would likely see MDS get
involved a bit quicker because there would be a local coordinator they
would work with.

We may be a bit slower sometimes coming into an area to help. From my
experience, MDS is very close to the last group to leave once they have
arrived and started helping.

Usually after this type of event there are a number of quick responding
groups that help with cleanup, but don't do that much rebuilding. The
Baptists and others are probably there right now cutting trees, etc.

If you want to get immediately involved another good organization that
helps to cleanup is Samaritan's Purse

They will also do some repairs / rebuilding. This group is in north Texas
now.

Hi,

Does anyone know of any service/assistance activities in response to the
tornados and flooding in Bosque, Clay, Denton, Eastland, Gaines,
Montague, and Van Zandt counties? Anyone have a contact I could reach-out
to?

Thanks,

Michael
