Hello Everyone,

I have added an Opinions page to the www.mennochurch.org website to allow
members
to post their convictions.

I think that it is a valuable way to promote dialog, but I don't want it to get
out of
control or cause any misunderstandings. And there are bold disclaimers stating
that the
content is the view of the author, not the organization as a whole (see below).

I propose that suggested essays be sent to the AMC list first and if there is
no reasonable
objection, then it could be posted.

Where the problems might come is if people want to post essays by others
(because we
would have to get explicit permission from them to post it) and it might become
too easy
to post things that have less and less to do with our congregation in
particular.
(Like the recent Jensen essay on Fahrenheit 9/11 that Ray sent, (assuming he
even gave
permission)- Would it be appropriate to post?)

Heidi

The disclaimer on the Opinions page:
"The following varied opinions are intended to promote valuable dialog
and to allow members to publicly express themselves on important
issues that we face today.
The views expressed are those of the author or of individual members only
and do not in any way express a view for the entire organization."
