The public is invited to a forum for State Board of Education
candidates on September
28 at the KLRU Studios. It is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the
Austin Area Education Fund and KLRU-TV, Austin PBS. Moderating the forum
will be Evan Smith, CEO and Editor in Chief of The Texas Tribune.
Please come at 6:30 p.m.Taping starts at 7 p.m., so don't be late.

More details:
Participating in the forum will be two District 5 candidates, Democrat
Rebecca Bell-Metereau and Libertarian Mark Loewe. A third candidate in
District 5, Republican Ken Mercer, did not respond to the League's
invitation. District 5 extends from Lady Bird Lake in Austin to the San
Antonio area.
The only candidate in District 10 who accepted the League's invitation was
Democrat Judy Jennings. Because League rules prohibit one-person forums,
Jennings will only be introduced at the taping. Not responding to the League
were Republican Marsha Farney and Libertarian Jessica Dreesen. District 10
runs north of Lady Bird Lake in Austin and south to the Houston area.
