Dear Friend,
I would like invite you help AIDS Services of Austin help our Central Texas
neighbors living with HIV and AIDS by taking the following steps to support
the 20th AIDS Walk Austin. You can contribute money to Team ASA by donating
online with a credit card or by mailing a check or money order. The theme
this year is "We Can Be Heroes."
Please consider giving whatever you can, coming to the walk if you can (I'm
told it's alot of fun for the whole family), or even forming your own team.
Feel free to tell your friends, family, co-workers and neighbors about how
to help too. Also, we need help to run this event, so if you are interested,
please click on Volunteer section of the website,
http://www.aidswalkaustin.org. A special feature will be a display of some
of the famous AIDS quilt by the NAMES project.
I've been working here for 11 months as of today. It's been a privilege to
be part of a caring staff that is doing important work without enough time
or money. I get to work alongside many wonderful volunteers who give freely
of their time and effort. It's an honor to serve the clients for whom we do
what we do, and who are courageously facing HIV disease. As a non-profit
social service agency, only 2/3 of our funds come from the government, and
those funds are never enough. The other 1/3 comes from the community, people
like you who care and want to help. So if you can, I hope you will.

Austin
The AIDS Walk benefits ASA and over ten other outstanding
HIV/AIDS
organizations providing support and direct care services for
people living
with HIV/AIDS in Central Texas.
Date: Sunday, October 28, 2007
Location: Waterloo Park (403 East 15th Street, between Trinity & Red River)
Time: 8:30 am - Registration begins
9:00 am - Opening Ceremonies
10:00 am - AIDS Walk Step-Off
Distance: 5K or 3.1 miles - Takes approximately one hour to complete
Why: The AIDS crisis continues. AIDS has no cure. We need your

There are over 4,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in Austin.
There are
approximately 1,500 Austinites living with HIV/AIDS who do
not know
they have it. 1 out of every 5 people in Austin with
HIV/AIDS is
between 15 and 24 years old. In Austin alone, 100 people
die of HIV/AIDS
each year.

2. Click on "FIND YOUR HERO - search for team or walker."
3. Click on "Find a Team."
4. Click on the button "Search for a Team."
5. Enter "ASA" In the box titled "Team Name."
6. Click on the button marked "Search."
7. Click on the middle of the three teams, "Team ASA."
8. Click on the grey box in the purple field above the thermometer titled
"Support Team ASA!"
9. In the Security Information pop-up box, answer "Yes" to the question "Do
you want to display the nonsecure items?"
10. Choose a donation amount and follow the rest of the instructions.
