Metallic thread is to be used more for embelishment than how you customarily 
would use polyester thread.  This means you should lighten up on the densities 
and lengthen the stitch lengths in the digitizing.  
Also slow the machine down and use a needle meant for metallic thread.  This 
would be a needle with a DBx7ST eye.  It's longer and rectangular in shape as 
opposed to the standard oval eye.
You may also want to try and use the standard mode of thread feed.
