If you are referring to Solvy, it really depends on the material I am sewing
on. You don't always need a solvy. I have never used a solvy on a jacket or
cap but almost always use it on sweaters and towels. Knit shirts are
optional depending on the shirt.

A printout works if the customer is in your shop. What I want to do is full-alphabet stitch outs of the different fonts and put in a notebook for the customer to see. This definitely takes time, though, and I want it to be pristine in quality. I see a lot of folks use a topper for lettering. Do you?

I have a printout of about 25 fonts and let the customer pick one. The most popular are Brody and brush for scripts. Full Block and Open block for block
fonts. BTW - I run ALL single colors designs, lettering, and names with an EMT-1 which is why I can charge $4 wholesale for a name.
